People casually repost photos their friends took at exhibitions. Artist Park Kyungjong became fascinated by this contemporary mode of “image consumption.” Before long, artworks are freely cropped, given improvised captions, and transformed into memes more famous than the original works themselves. The power of these endlessly circulating images rivals that of the authentic piece.

In response, the artist cuts out his own “original” paintings, dresses himself in layers of dangling tag-like garments, and steps into the streets. Without even needing to take out a phone, passersby can simply pull off a tag and take an image with them; before a keyboard even appears on a comment window, they can leave their thoughts directly with the artist in person. Thus, the living SNS project 〈#Tagman〉 travels across cities and countries around the world.
