Freshly picked and vibrant, or perfectly ripened through time—colors are the indispensable ingredients in Choi Su-jin’s paintings.

To the artist, color is paramount. It is the element that allows her to re-interpret the world seen through her eyes in her own unique way. This is why she is constantly engaged in a tireless process on the canvas: creating, digging up, and extracting "healthy" colors until they finally achieve the exact hue she desires.

When these vividly ripened paints meet moments of daily life that might otherwise seem ordinary, they begin to sparkle. Moments from the imagination—the kind you might see in a dream or far removed from reality—put on clothes of multi-colored paint and chatter away within her frames.
