Lim Jimin 《Spatiotemporal Notebook》
Location: OCI headquarters 1st Floor, Sun the Bud
Exhibition Period: May 4 – August 31, 2021
Where do memories exist? What form do they take?
As we go through life, we experience countless events. These moments are stored somewhere within the circuits of our minds, each taking on its own form.
These data we call “memories” tend to fade over time, yet there are always some we wish never to lose.
Artist Lim Jimin captures fragments of these fading memories, piece by piece, in an effort to preserve receding recollections. Here, those memories are gathered, held, and brought forth. The fragments intertwine, thread together, and dissolve into one another, generating new images and contexts. What once seemed like separate memories begin to reveal subtly similar faces when brought together.
Now, take a moment to reflect on your own memories. You may encounter images that recur again and again, or come across latent scenes that feel unfamiliar even to yourself.
May this very moment—of viewing this exhibition—be recorded somewhere in the notebook of your memory, to be rediscovered one day as a recollection.
