Yang Junguk 《Not So Trivial》
Location: OCI headquarters 1floor Sun the Bud
Exhibition Period: January 4 – April 29, 2022
Artist Junguk Yang pays attention to the small, everyday moments of life. He infuses these ordinary stories with his own lyrical and warm sensibility, embodying them in moving sculptures.
Materials such as aged wood, delicate threads, and shimmering lights come together with mechanical devices to reveal the various emotions embedded in life.
As you quietly observe his works—each repeating its own distinct motion, slowly, spinning, moving back and forth—you may begin to see reflections of yourself: perhaps dozing off, or perhaps resembling a part-time worker absorbed in endless tasks.
Though our days may seem ordinary and unremarkable, they are all the more precious for that reason. Through the artist’s works, which focus on lives that are humble yet never trivial, we hope viewers can revisit the small moments of a day that are so easily overlooked.
